You’ve been invited to a research session
A company you know has asked for your feedback and uses Lookback to run the session. They invited you and they run the research. Lookback provides the tool that connects you and records the session.
What is Lookback?
Lookback is a research tool used by product and design teams around the world. Companies use it to talk to the people who use their products and to see how they use them, so they can make them better.
What happens in a session
- You open the link from your invite. It works in your browser. On a phone you may be asked to install the Lookback app.
- The session may ask to use your camera, microphone or screen. You’ll always be asked first.
- Depending on the study, you might talk with a researcher live or complete some tasks on your own.
- You can stop at any time by ending the session or closing the window.
Your recording and your data
The company that invited you decides what is recorded and how it is used. Lookback runs the session and stores the recording securely on their behalf. Lookback is audited to the SOC 2 Type II security standard and follows strict GDPR data management. Lookback doesn’t sell your information, doesn’t market to you and won’t contact you.
How to check your invite is genuine
- Lookback session links are on lookback.io, for example participate.lookback.io or join.lookback.io. Check that the address ends in lookback.io before the first slash.
- The invite should come from the company you know, or mention them by name.
- If you’re unsure, contact that company through a channel you already trust, like their website or app, and ask whether the research is real.
Questions?
Questions about the study, the recording or your personal data go to the company that invited you. They are responsible for the research and for your data.
